AEW star and WWE Hall of Famer Adam Copeland has landed another major acting role, joining the cast of the upcoming action sequel, “The Beekeeper 2.” A report from Variety confirmed that Copeland will star opposite Hollywood action icon Jason Statham and MCU alumna Pom Klementieff in the highly anticipated follow-up to the 2024 hit film. This new role further solidifies Copeland’s burgeoning acting career, which has seen him take on significant parts in major television series and now a prominent role in a blockbuster film franchise. His growing presence in Hollywood has become a major factor in his professional wrestling schedule.
The film is the sequel to “The Beekeeper,” which starred Statham as Adam Clay, a former member of an elite covert organization. Other returning cast members for the sequel include Jeremy Irons, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi, and Jemma Redgrave, with Yara Shahidi also joining the cast. Plot details for “The Beekeeper 2” are currently being kept under wraps, but the film has reportedly already started production. The sequel is directed by Timo Tjahjanto and written by Kurt Wimmer.
This new role comes after Adam Copeland was recently written off AEW television for filming commitments. He is also reprising his role as Ares, the God of War, in the third season of the Disney+ series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” with filming reportedly having begun last month. The first “Beekeeper” film grossed over $162 million worldwide, making it a significant hit.
