Hikaru Shida Confirms She Is Not Retiring From Wrestling

Former AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida has put an end to any rumors of her retirement from professional wrestling. In a new vlog released this week, Shida confirmed that she has no plans to step away from the ring and has recently renewed both her work visa and her contract with All Elite Wrestling. The news is a welcome relief for her fans, who had been speculating about her future due to her sporadic appearances on AEW programming in recent months. Shida’s comments make it clear that she is committed to continuing her career as one of the top female wrestlers in the world.

Shida addressed the questions directly in her vlog, which also detailed her work on a stage play in Japan.

“Actually, after the show, many fans asked me, like, are you retiring or it’s just play? Of course it’s just play. I’m not retiring. I just renewed my visa and contract, so I’m not retiring. But fans asked me, so that means my acting was too good.”

Shida last wrestled in AEW in November of last year, losing to Kris Statlander. Since then, she has been competing sporadically in Japan. Her renewed contract ensures that she will remain a part of the AEW roster for the foreseeable future, and fans will be eagerly anticipating her full-time return to television.
