Samoa Joe Names Bad News Brown As One Of His Wrestling Heroes

AEW

AEW World Trios Champion Samoa Joe has revealed one of his wrestling heroes, citing the legendary “Bad News” Brown, also known as Bad News Allen, as a major influence. Joe, who is known for his intense and no-nonsense demeanor in the ring, praised Brown’s unique ability to convey genuine disdain for his opponents and his authentic, aggressive attitude. The comments provide a fascinating insight into the influences that shaped one of the most respected and feared competitors in professional wrestling today. Joe’s appreciation for Brown’s character work highlights the enduring impact of a truly authentic villain.

Speaking on The F Y’all Podcast with C.T. Fletcher, Joe discussed what he admired most about Bad News Brown’s persona.

“Another guy who I don’t give a shout-out to enough and I really should is Bad News Allen. When you talk about attitude, when you talk about somebody who, for the first time you saw genuine disdain, like he was just disgusted with whoever was standing in front of him. He was very much that guy.”

Bad News Brown, a former Olympic bronze medalist in judo, had a successful career in both the WWF and Stampede Wrestling, where he was known for his surly demeanor and his ability to generate genuine heat from the audience. He passed away in 2007 at the age of 63.
