AEW World Trios Champion Powerhouse Hobbs has opened up about his journey and his desire to use his success in All Elite Wrestling as a source of inspiration for kids who may be going through a tough childhood, similar to the one he experienced. Hobbs, who has become one of AEW’s most dominant and popular homegrown stars, has often spoken about the difficulties he faced growing up, and he sees his position as a champion and a featured performer on national television as an opportunity to be a positive role model. His comments, made in a new interview with KansasCity.com ahead of this week’s AEW Dynamite, provide a heartfelt look at the man behind the powerhouse persona.
Returning to Kansas City as a champion is a significant and rewarding moment for Hobbs.
“The last time I was in KC I didn’t have a title. It’s definitely rewarding. Coming back somewhere I didn’t have a championship gold, now it shows I’m progressing and I’m getting better.”
He then explained his sense of duty to inspire others who may be in a similar position to where he was as a child.
“I know there is someone out there who’s been in my position, or is in my position, that will look up to me. And hopefully, I can help them out. You know, that’s my duty. For me, it’s about paving the way for others. You know, what can I add? It’s almost like looking at it like the yellow brick road. What bricks can I lay down so someone else can step on it?”
Powerhouse Hobbs and his partners in The Opps are scheduled to defend their AEW World Trios Championships on the three-hour combined edition of Dynamite and Collision this week.
