Report: “Very Slim Chance” Of AJ Styles Joining AEW After WWE

A new report from Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp has addressed the possibility of AJ Styles potentially joining All Elite Wrestling after his WWE contract expires, stating that there is a “very slim chance” of that happening. The former multi-time WWE Champion recently announced that he plans to retire from professional wrestling in 2026, which has led to some fan speculation about where he might spend the final years of his illustrious career. While a move to AEW would undoubtedly create a host of dream matches, the report indicates that those close to “The Phenomenal One” believe he is happy in WWE and will likely finish his career with the company he has called home for nearly a decade.

According to Sapp, Styles’s current WWE contract was originally scheduled to expire in early 2026, though it is unclear if any extensions have been added to the deal.

“Sapp reports that Fightful’s current WWE contract was originally scheduled to end in early 2026. However, he noted that he was unsure if WWE had since opted to extend Styles’ contract or not.”

The report also notes that the prevailing belief among those close to Styles is that he will remain with WWE until his retirement.

“Sapp also reports that most people close to Styles believe he will finish out his career in WWE, as the wrestler and former Grand Slam Champion has appeared happy there for a while. Styles has also been discussing retirement since as far back as 2019 during his last WWE contract.”

Styles, who joined WWE in a memorable debut at the 2016 Royal Rumble, was recently in action at the WWE Super Show-Down: Perth Premium Live Event, where he had a highly acclaimed match against John Cena. He is scheduled to be in championship action on next week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, where he will team with Dragon Lee to challenge The Judgment Day for the World Tag Team Championships.
