The Young Bucks (Matthew and Nicholas Jackson) have named the one remaining “dream match” on their bucket list: a tag team showdown against the legendary, reunited duo of Adam Copeland and Christian Cage. In a recent interview with Jon Alba on Sports Illustrated’s “The Takedown,” The Young Bucks discussed their desire for the match, which would pit two of the most influential and decorated tag teams of their respective generations against each other for the first time. With Copeland and Cage recently reuniting in AEW, this fantasy matchup is now a distinct possibility, and it’s one that the Jackson brothers are openly campaigning for.
Nick Jackson spoke about the magnitude of the potential match, noting that it’s something he never thought would be possible when they first helped create AEW.
“I think it’d be insane. It’s crazy to even think that that match is a possibility. Because if you told me this in 2019 when we helped create AEW, I’d be like, ‘No chance in hell,’ right? So if if we do get a chance to do it, I feel like it could be a very special tag match.”
Matt Jackson echoed that sentiment, emphasizing that this is the last major dream match left for them to accomplish in their careers.
“I told someone this. I said that that might be our last big money match dream match that is left. I think we’ve done them all. That might be it. And I hope that we can do it, and it would be silly not to do it while we’re all still here at AEW. So yeah, that’s definitely on the bucket list, and I pray we get to do it.”
The brothers also spoke about the influence that teams like The Hardys, The Dudleys, and Edge & Christian had on their own careers, with Matt Jackson recalling a personal story about Adam Copeland being “so kind” to him when he was a young extra at a WWE show, which made him look up to Copeland as a role model in the business.
