Two Major Championship Matches Set For AEW Dynamite

AEW

The fallout from the AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view will be immediate, as two major championship matches have already been announced for this Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite on October 22. The show, which will take place in San Antonio, Texas, will also feature the reveal of the bracket for the inaugural AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship tournament, making it a can’t-miss broadcast. The announced matches are a direct result of the events that transpired at WrestleDream, as new challengers have stepped up to stake their claim for championship gold.

The AEW World Trios Championships will be on the line as the reigning champions, The Opps (Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, & Powerhouse Hobbs), will defend their titles against The Hurt Syndicate (Shelton Benjamin, Bobby Lashley, & MVP). The Hurt Syndicate earned this championship opportunity by winning their tornado trios match against The Demand at WrestleDream. This match is now layered with intrigue, as The Opps, led by Samoa Joe, viciously attacked AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page after his main event match at the pay-per-view.

In the second championship match, the AEW Unified Champion, Kazuchika Okada, will defend his title against Bandido of the tag team champions, Brodido. This match was made after Bandido secured a pinfall victory over Okada during their AEW World Tag Team Championship match at WrestleDream, giving him a direct claim to a shot at Okada’s singles title. The show will also feature the official unveiling of the tournament bracket for the new AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championships.

The current lineup for Wednesday, October 22, is below:

  • AEW World Trios Championship Match: The Opps (Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata & Powerhouse Hobbs) (champions) defend against The Hurt Syndicate (Shelton Benjamin, Bobby Lashley & MVP)
  • AEW Unified Championship Match: Kazuchika Okada (champion) defends against Bandido
  • AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament Bracket Reveal
