Nixon Newell, known to WWE fans as Tegan Nox, made her on-screen debut for All Elite Wrestling during Saturday’s episode of AEW Collision. Newell appeared alongside Miranda Alize, interrupting a backstage interview segment featuring Tay Melo and Anna Jay (TayJay).
Melo and Jay were discussing their participation in the tournament to crown the first-ever AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions when Newell and Alize approached. Newell greeted Melo, referencing a match they had during their time together in NXT back in 2019. Newell stated that they came to AEW because “it’s where the best wrestle”. Melo responded confidently, stating that she and Jay “love a challenge”.
While a match between the duos seems likely, no specific date or show was announced for the encounter. However, with AEW taping both Dynamite and Collision this Wednesday in Edinburg, Texas, that event is a probable setting for the match. The date for TayJay’s AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament quarterfinal match against Penelope Ford and Megan Bayne has also not yet been announced.
Newell was released from her WWE contract in November 2024 and returned to the independent wrestling scene in March 2025. Although Newell and Alize have competed against each other twice previously, this marks their first time aligning as a team. Miranda Alize has prior experience in AEW, having wrestled six matches for the promotion, with her last appearance dating back to June 2021.
