In a heartbreaking announcement, WWE Hall of Famer Barry Windham has revealed that his long-time tag team partner and brother-in-law, Mike Rotunda, has been placed in hospice care. Windham shared the sad news during an interview with Bill Apter for 1Wrestling Video, asking fans for their thoughts and prayers for the Rotunda family during this difficult time. The news was later confirmed by fellow wrestling veteran Leilani Kai, who posted a heartfelt message on social media. This is another tragic blow to the legendary wrestling family, which is still mourning the loss of Mike’s son, Windham Rotunda (Bray Wyatt), who passed away in August 2023.
During the interview, Apter asked Windham about Bray Wyatt, which led to Windham providing the update on his former partner.
“Mike is in hospice right now. Anyway, this family, I love that family, but you know, it’s just so tragic. I would like for you all to pray for Mike.”
Leilani Kai also shared a message, writing:
“It breaks my heart to share that my friend Mike Rotunda has been placed under hospice care. This photo was from earlier this year — a moment I’ll treasure. Please keep Mike and the Rotunda family in your prayers. We love you, Mike. ❤️ #WrestlingFamily”
The 67-year-old Rotunda had an illustrious, multi-decade career in professional wrestling. He is best known to millions of fans as the villainous tax collector, Irwin R. Schyster (I.R.S.). He was a five-time WWE Tag Team Champion, winning the titles twice with Windham as The U.S. Express and three times with “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase as Money Inc. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2024 as part of The U.S. Express.
