An update has been provided on the status of AEW World Tag Team and ROH World Champion Bandido, who appeared to have re-injured his shoulder during the AEW Collision tapings on Wednesday night. During his ROH World Title defense against Mascara Dorada (which will air this Saturday, November 1), Bandido was seen favoring his arm after a dive, but he completed the match. This incident caused concern, as he has been selling a shoulder injury for weeks.
However, on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that he believes the injury is part of an ongoing storyline, or “work.”
“I don’t know if this is legit or not, Bandido does a dive and hurts his shoulder, and he works the rest of the match with one arm. But since he’s been doing the shoulder thing and working matches with one arm, I’m going under the presumption that it’s a work. But I mean, a couple of people who watched it, they were all under the impression that he really hurt his arm, but that’s the arm he’s been selling for weeks now.”
Meltzer also noted that Bandido sold a “worked” shoulder injury backstage at a CMLL show earlier this month, reinforcing the idea that this is a long-term storyline angle.
Whether the injury is legitimate or not, Bandido is facing a major championship defense at the Full Gear pay-per-view on November 22. He and his “Brodido” partner, Brody King, are scheduled to defend their AEW World Tag Team Championships against FTR.
