Cody Rhodes Is Already Planning His Retirement From WWE

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes recently appeared on the “All The Smoke” podcast, where he discussed his future in the industry and his personal Mount Rushmore of wrestling.

Rhodes revealed that he is already thinking about the end of his in-ring career, stating that his next contract with WWE will likely be his last. He expressed a desire to be more present for his children, similar to how his father, Dusty Rhodes, was for him after his own in-ring career wound down.

“I’d like to make it so that by the time they [his kids] hit that age, I’m not gone that often or I can’t really walk around that much… What I’d say is probably my last contract with WWE, or the next contract I sign, will probably be my last — and I’ll finish my days with WWE. It’s the house that built me, and it’s the house that brought me back and put me in this wonderful, wonderful position.”

During the same interview, Rhodes named his wrestling Mount Rushmore, emphasizing that a legacy often depends on a “final chapter.” His picks were:

  • Dusty Rhodes: “His final chapter in the business is hilarious… WarGames is still a show that we do to this day… He just had an unreal ‘from the grave’ chapter.”
  • The Rock: “He came back to a very tumultuous WWE… and decided, ‘Nope, I’m not going to deal with that. I’m instead going to create a new character…’ that being The Final Boss. And we’ve just scratched the surface on The Final Boss.”
  • Triple H: “He’s put the entire WWE on his back.”
