All Elite Wrestling is adding another championship to its men’s division. In a video announcement before the AEW Dynamite “Fright Night” broadcast on October 29, Tony Khan officially announced the creation of the AEW National Championship.
Khan, alongside Tony Schiavone, explained that the inaugural champion will be crowned at the Full Gear pay-per-view on Saturday, November 22, in a Casino Gauntlet Match. Competitors for the match have not yet been revealed.
Khan also noted that the new title will be a “traveling” championship, set to be defended in other promotions, including Ring of Honor (ROH) and New Japan Pro-Wrestling. He noted the historical significance of the “National Championship,” a name famously used by the NWA in promotions like Georgia Championship Wrestling before it was unified with the NWA United States Championship in 1986.
This new title will be the fourth men’s singles championship in AEW, joining the AEW World Championship, the AEW Unified Championship (which combines the International and Continental titles), and the AEW TNT Championship.
