The “I Believe In Joe Hendry” movement is officially coming to WWE on a full-time basis. A new report from Fightful Select states that the former TNA World Champion has officially signed a contract with WWE and is “effectively done with TNA in an official capacity.”
Hendry has not been used on TNA programming in “quite a while” and was not present at their Bound For Glory pay-per-view. In contrast, he has become a popular fixture on WWE NXT, where he has had several high-profile appearances, including a match against Randy Orton at WrestleMania earlier this year.
According to the report, WWE and specifically Shawn Michaels have “wanted Hendry for some time,” with Michaels even previously wanting WWE to try and buy out Hendry’s TNA contract. Though Hendry still had “several months” left on his TNA deal, he reportedly used representation to “amicably move forward and transition to WWE.”
Hendry is next scheduled to team with Thea Hail to challenge for the AAA Mixed Tag Team Championships at the upcoming NXT Gold Rush special.
