Legendary commentator Jim Ross is preparing to make his return to the AEW commentary desk. Ross, who has been on hiatus since All In in July 2025 while continuing his recovery from colon cancer, has been working a limited schedule focused on major shows.
On a recent episode of his Grilling JR podcast, Ross gave a positive update, stating he feels “healthier than he has in years” and is “regaining his energy”. He also revealed that he has signed a new one-year contract with AEW, which will focus on pay-per-view commentary and select main-event duties. Most notably, Ross announced he plans to “start calling matches again in the next few weeks”.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter also noted Ross is preparing for a comeback, with Dave Meltzer speculating a return could happen at the Worlds End pay-per-view on December 27. Ross also shared that he has moved from Jacksonville back to Norman, Oklahoma, to be closer to his family, which has improved his daily well-being.
