WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray has strongly criticized TNA Wrestling’s recent decision to have Mike Santana drop the TNA World Championship to Frankie Kazarian on a weekly episode of TNA iMPACT!. Santana had just won the title a month prior at Bound for Glory in front of TNA’s largest-ever crowd.
Speaking on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Bully questioned the logic of the move: “Why would you take the championship off of Mike Santana one month after his big win… Why? Why? Why?”.
Bully Ray stated he would have “no problem with it” if the title change is part of a “bigger picture in mind for Mike Santana”. However, he warned that if there is no “definitive follow-up,” the booking could be detrimental. “If there is not a definitive follow-up for Mike Santana… you have damaged Mike Santana”.
He added that after having fans travel to Lowell, Massachusetts, for the Bound for Glory payoff, TNA’s decision will make it “very difficult to support that guy” going forward.
