During a recent appearance on the “All Axxess” podcast, Ken “Mr.” Anderson shared a story about his early heat with CM Punk from their time in IWA Mid-South. Anderson recalled wrestling Austin Aries in an opening match, only to find out later that the commentary team of CM Punk, Ace Steel, and Dave Prazak “just buried us” the entire time.
“Years later, I was on an independent show with him, and I just [asked], ‘Can I talk to you for a second?’” Anderson said. “I pulled him into a different room, and I said, ‘Uh, do we have heat or something?’… I laid out the scenario… He was like, ‘No.’ He gave me the deepest, most sincere… He gave me a genuine apology. Then we squashed it, but I still held that grudge”. Anderson revealed it was Paul Heyman who later helped them become “good friends” after he “took us out for sushi one day, and we just sat and talked”.
During the podcast, Anderson also named his Lockdown 2010 cage match against Kurt Angle in TNA as his “favorite match”. He also called Shawn Michaels “the best performer that I’ve ever been in the ring with, all time, hands down,” adding, “I did not like him personally, but he’s just so good”.
