Wrestling legend Jazz recently appeared on the “Ring the Belle” podcast to look back on her trailblazing career, which included runs in ECW, WWE, and TNA.
Jazz cited her debut pay-per-view match at ECW Heatwave ’99 against Jason Knight as one of the most memorable of her entire career. “A lot of people don’t know this but I only trained… six to eight months before getting a job with ECW,” she said. “This is [my] first big match… Probably one of my most memorable matches of all time”.
She also discussed her infamous “The bitch is back and the bitch is Black” promo from WWE Backlash 2003, confirming she did not create the line. “I don’t know who came up with that slogan, but you know… I did not. It was on a piece of paper”.
Jazz explained that the promo was designed to fit the “thugging and bugging movement” she and her husband, Rodney Mack, were doing at the time. “It was just during those moments where my husband Rodney Mack was doing the matches where it was the ‘White Boy Challenge,’ and Teddy Long was out there talking about ‘Kill Whitey.’ So I guess it just kind of fit what we were doing”.
