AEW President Tony Khan has revealed that he brings in former WWE Superstar and concussion expert Dr. Chris Nowinski to speak to the AEW roster every year. Nowinski, the co-founder of the Concussion Legacy Foundation, is a leading voice in head trauma research and safety in sports.
In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Khan explained the importance of these sessions.
“I want them to hear it straight from Chris that it’s really important that they are cognizant, and that they hear the message he’s giving that really we want to be as safe as possible because Chris was a pro wrestler, and he cares about this.”
Nowinski responded on social media, calling it a “privilege and honor” to share his research and experience with his former colleagues to “help them stay safe in the ring.”
