Ricochet continues to make history, this time as the inaugural AEW National Champion.
In an interview with The Sportster, Ricochet reflected on winning the title in the Casino Gauntlet match at Full Gear and subsequently defending it against Dalton Castle at ROH Final Battle. He noted that achieving this milestone so late in his career validates his longevity.
“To still be able to perform, and to still be able to compete at the level that I have been is honestly amazing, and everyone should be clapping for me,” Ricochet said.
He also pointed out that he is the first wrestler to defend an AEW title on an ROH pay-per-view, adding to a long list of “firsts” in his career, including being the first foreign Dragon Gate champion and a two-time BOLA winner.
“I don’t just say that I’m a trendsetter because it’s funny and it sounds good. I’m literally a trendsetter in professional wrestling because I am the first to do multiple things,” he stated.
