“Timeless” Toni Storm has become one of AEW’s most captivating characters, and a new report sheds light on the creative process behind her persona.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Storm’s character work is a blend of personal improvisation and collaborative scripting. While AEW CEO Tony Khan conceived the Bette Davis-inspired gimmick, drawing from classic films like All About Eve and Sunset Boulevard, Storm herself performs much of the character work, including during unscripted media appearances.
The report also highlights the significant contributions of RJ City to the “Timeless” persona. Sapp notes that Storm’s television promos appear to be the result of a collaborative effort involving City and others, rather than being entirely scripted or entirely improvised.
Interestingly, the storyline involving Storm and her protegee-turned-rival Mariah May was reportedly Khan’s idea before May even signed with the company.
