Retired AEW Star Reveals He Just Had Major Neck Surgery

Chuck Taylor’s post-retirement life continues to be physically demanding.

The former AEW star revealed on Instagram that he recently underwent neck surgery, captioning a post with the graphic description: “Got my neck cut off.” This comes after Taylor, 39, was forced into retirement earlier this year due to osteonecrosis (bone death) in his ankle, a condition stemming from a previous fracture.

Taylor wrestled his final match on the April 25, 2024 episode of Rampage, losing a Parking Lot Brawl to his former best friend Trent Beretta. Since hanging up his boots, he has transitioned into a backstage role with AEW as a coach and producer.

Dave Meltzer previously noted that Taylor’s ankle condition is similar to the one that ended the career of “Superstar” Billy Graham, making any potential in-ring return highly unlikely.
