Jack Perry Praises NJPW’s Unscripted Promo Style

AEW

Jack Perry’s excursion to New Japan Pro-Wrestling in 2024 was a transformative period for his career, and he credits a specific aspect of their production for helping him grow.

In an interview on Close Up w/ Renee Paquette, Perry highlighted NJPW’s backstage promo style as his favorite part of the run. Unlike the polished, produced segments often seen in American wrestling, NJPW utilizes raw, post-match interviews with minimal setup.

“My favorite part was these little post-match promos things they have… There’s just a guy with a camera, and there’s no, ‘3, 2, 1, go.’ It’s like they’re already rolling so it’s like, oh sh*t, I can’t even breathe,” Perry explained.

He noted that the lack of production forced him to be more authentic.

“It kind of forces you to just be in the moment and not overthink it and not worry and I think that was really good for me. Just kind of taking the pressure off of these things.”

Perry recently challenged Yota Tsuji for the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Dynasty in January 2025 before returning to AEW.
