Jon Moxley vs. Josh Alexander Added To AEW New Year’s Smash

AEW

Jon Moxley’s first test as AEW Continental Champion will happen on the final night of 2025.

AEW has announced that Moxley will face Josh Alexander in a Continental Championship Eliminator match at Dynamite: New Year’s Smash this Wednesday, December 31. Moxley, who won the title by defeating Kazuchika Okada in the Continental Classic finals at Worlds End, will put a future title shot on the line.

Under Eliminator rules, if Alexander can defeat Moxley or survive the 20-minute time limit, he will earn a future championship match. Crucially, the rules stipulate that there can be no outside interference.

This match adds even more firepower to a stacked card that already features Mercedes Moné vs. Willow Nightingale and Ricochet vs. Jack Perry.

Updated New Year’s Smash Card (Dec 31):

TBS Championship: Mercedes Moné (c) vs. Willow Nightingale

AEW National Championship: Ricochet (c) vs. Jack Perry
