Bryan Danielson Gives Honest Critique Of His AEW Commentary

Bryan Danielson is a perfectionist in the ring, and it turns out he is just as critical of himself at the broadcast table.

Since September 2025, “The American Dragon” has become a staple of AEW commentary on Dynamite and Collision. In a new interview with Justin Barrasso of Undisputed, Danielson opened up about the transition and his performance so far.

“A lot of times, I still think I’m rotten. It’s hard to gauge the show in terms of what worked and didn’t when I’m doing commentary,” Danielson admitted.

Despite his harsh self-assessment, Danielson said he enjoys the work and compares the rush of calling a match to wrestling in one. He also credited his broadcast partners—Excalibur, Taz, and Tony Schiavone—for helping him navigate the role.

“I’m also giving myself some grace–almost everyone else in that position has been trained and I’m winging it,” he said.

Danielson’s insight adds a unique layer to the broadcast, offering a wrestler’s perspective that few others can match. While he may think he’s “rotten,” many fans have praised his analysis and passion on the mic.
