It appears Powerhouse Hobbs is on his way out of All Elite Wrestling.
According to a report from Fightful Select, Hobbs is expected to depart AEW when his contract expires at midnight on Wednesday. Despite months of negotiations and a “substantial offer” from AEW to stay, the 35-year-old star has reportedly decided to test free agency.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently noted that WWE is “very high” on Hobbs, and Fightful adds that unless there is a major last-minute change, he is expected to join the rival promotion as soon as he is legally able to do so.
Hobbs is finishing up his AEW tenure at tonight’s Collision taping, where he is scheduled to defend the AEW Trios Championships alongside Samoa Joe and Katsuyori Shibata against Hangman Page and JetSpeed. Hobbs has been a fixture in AEW since debuting in July 2020, holding the Trios titles for nearly 300 days and enjoying a run as TNT Champion in 2023. He is reportedly leaving the company on good terms.
