All Elite Wrestling has been forced to make a significant last-minute alteration to its production schedule due to impending severe weather. The company announced prior to tonight’s Dynamite that this Saturday’s scheduled AEW Collision event at the Esports Stadium in Arlington, Texas, has been canceled. The decision comes in response to a winter storm forecast to blanket the region with snow and ice, making travel and safety a primary concern for talent and fans alike. AEW had been utilizing the Arlington venue for several weeks as part of a January residency, but the unpredictable elements have cut that run short for this weekend.
Despite the cancellation of the live event in Texas, the broadcast itself remains on the schedule. To ensure the show airs in its usual Saturday slot, AEW will tape the entire episode of Collision tonight, Wednesday, January 21, immediately following the live broadcast of Dynamite in Orlando, Florida. While the logistics of moving a full show from Texas to Florida on short notice are daunting, the taping ensures that the weekly storylines continue uninterrupted. It remains unclear exactly when the call was made or if the sudden shift has forced any creative changes to the planned card, though the company has confirmed the lineup will proceed with its advertised matches.
The episode features a significant card highlighted by the in-ring return of Andrade El Idolo, who is embarking on his “second go-round in his second AEW run.” Andrade is set to face CMLL’s Magnus in a bout that continues the promotion’s cross-promotional relationship with the Mexican powerhouse. In championship action, TNT Champion Mark Briscoe will defend his title against the mysterious El Clon, while CMLL Heavyweight Champion Claudio Castagnoli puts his gold on the line against Roderick Strong. The taping in Orlando offers a different atmosphere than the intimate, passionate crowds in Arlington, but the card promises to deliver the hard-hitting action Collision is known for.
Looking ahead, AEW is already setting the stage for its next major landmark event. AEW Revolution 2026 has been officially confirmed for Sunday, March 15, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. This marks the second consecutive year the promotion has brought one of its “Big Four” pay-per-views to the iconic venue. As storylines from this week’s emergency Collision taping unfold, they will likely begin the slow build toward that massive date in March, where the company aims to follow up on last year’s historic Sting retirement match with another card worthy of the “Revolution” name.
