The road to Riyadh has reached its final stretch, and the Undisputed WWE Championship match for the Royal Rumble is officially locked in. Drew McIntyre is set to defend his title against Sami Zayn at the King Abdullah Financial District on January 31. Zayn earned the opportunity by winning a Fatal Four-Way match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, defeating Randy Orton, Damian Priest, and Trick Williams.
The finish saw Zayn pin Priest following a Helluva Kick to punch his ticket to Saudi Arabia. Tensions flared immediately after the bell, as McIntyre attempted to ambush his new challenger, but Zayn successfully fended off the attack, standing tall as the show closed.
The updated card for the 39th annual Royal Rumble features high stakes across the board. Beyond the title match, AJ Styles will put his career on the line against Gunther in a “Career vs. Match” stipulation. The traditional Royal Rumble matches have also filled up, with notable confirmed entrants including Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, and Jacob Fatu for the men, and Rhea Ripley, Liv Morgan, Charlotte Flair, and Giulia for the women.
