A serious situation reportedly unfolded during this week’s episode of WWE Raw, as Rey Mysterio is believed to have suffered a legitimate injury during his match against Austin Theory. According to Bodyslam.net‘s Cory Hays, Mysterio was hurt during the bout and required assistance from medical personnel to get to the back.
The injury occurred in a match that Theory won following interference from The Vision. The report notes that the last move Mysterio took was a stomp by Theory for the pinfall. Consequently, Mysterio was kept mostly absent from the post-match beatdown on LWO members Penta and Dragon Lee. With WWE flying out to Saudi Arabia shortly for the Royal Rumble, it remains unclear if Mysterio—who was scheduled for the Rumble match—will be cleared to compete.
Despite the injury scare, WWE has updated the card for Saturday’s premium live event in Riyadh. The lineup features the Undisputed WWE Championship match between Drew McIntyre and Sami Zayn, and a “Career Threatening Match” where AJ Styles must retire if he loses to Gunther. New declarations for the Rumble matches include Oba Femi, Je’Von Evans, and Becky Lynch.
