With WrestleMania 42 rapidly approaching, the card for WWE’s biggest event of the year is still in flux, particularly regarding the SmackDown Women’s Championship. According to a new report from WrestleVotes Radio, WWE creative has not yet locked in a challenger for current champion Jade Cargill in Las Vegas.
Multiple Ideas Discussed Internally
“We’re told that WWE has yet determined the direction of the SmackDown Women’s Championship match for the event,” the report noted. While Cargill is set to defend her title against Jordynne Grace on this week’s SmackDown, discussions for her WrestleMania opponent are ongoing.
Two marquee matchups have reportedly emerged as the frontrunners. “A source indicates that multiple ideas have been discussed internally, with Charlotte Flair vs. Jade Cargill and Tiffany Stratton vs. Jade Cargill among the more frequently considered matchups.” Both options present massive star power: a showdown with the legendary Charlotte Flair would be a true test of Cargill’s dominance, while a match against the rising star Tiffany Stratton would highlight the future of the division. With Royal Rumble winner Liv Morgan yet to declare her choice, the final decision likely hinges on the outcome of the upcoming Elimination Chamber.
