Before “Cult of Personality” hit the arena speakers, Punk was shown backstage as “Sirius” by The Alan Parsons Project played throughout the building. The iconic instrumental track is universally recognized as the starting lineup introduction music for the Chicago Bulls during the Michael Jordan era. Adding to the atmosphere, the public address announcer gave Punk a Bulls-style introduction as he made his way through the curtain.
During the Elimination Chamber post-show, Punk discussed the deep significance of the entrance. “That song, Alan Parsons Project, obviously has a connection with the United Center being the intro for the Bulls dynasty. There’s a statue of a man named Michael Jordan right over there at the vestibule. It was also Ricky Steamboat’s entrance for a lot of his time here in WWE,” Punk explained. He noted that the song gave him goosebumps, but the true highlight was the unwavering support of the Chicago fans behind him.
When asked about his profound connection to his hometown, the champion expressed immense pride in being associated with the city’s sports royalty. “I am one of them so it is always humbling to know that I come from this city, and I have watched such megastars and mega athletes like Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen… the ’85 Bears,” Punk stated. He proudly added that no matter where he ranks on that list, he is honored just to be included.
