The road to WrestleMania weekend is paved through Texas for the superstars of WWE NXT. The developmental brand is gearing up for a major live event in Houston later this month, and General Manager Robert Stone has officially set the stage with two massive championship bouts.
A Crowded Title Picture and a Speed Final
The NXT Women’s Championship picture has become increasingly chaotic. At the recent Vengeance Day premium live event, reigning champion Jacy Jayne attempted to cut a celebratory promo highlighting her history with the title. She was quickly interrupted by Robert Stone, who informed her that the focus must shift to her next challengers. This prompted both Zaria and Sol Ruca to hit the ring and stake their respective claims for a title shot. Evaluating the situation, Stone announced that Jayne will be forced to defend the gold against both women in a Triple Threat match on the March 17th show in Houston.
The announcement infuriated Jayne, and later in the broadcast, the rest of the Fatal Influence faction was seen conspiring backstage to take out Sol Ruca before the championship match can even take place.
Additionally, the Houston event will feature the crowning of the next challenger for the WWE Speed Championship. Current champion Fallon Henley confirmed she will defend her title on the March 17th card. Her opponent will be determined this coming Tuesday on NXT television in a high-stakes final match between Wren Sinclair and Thea Hail, who both secured victories in the qualifying rounds to earn their spot.
