Kenny Omega is back in AEW — and he made his presence felt at the right moment. Omega returned at Revolution to intervene after Swerve Strickland’s victory over Brody King threatened to turn into something far more dangerous.
Strickland defeated King following a third House Call finisher in a hard-hitting bout that saw Bryan Danielson join the commentary desk. The match featured a sequence where Strickland deadlifted King off the ring apron and powerbombed him, as well as a vertebreaker on the exposed floor. After the bell, however, Strickland’s focus shifted from victory to destruction.
Omega Saves King From Brick Attack, Setting Up Renewed Swerve Rivalry
Strickland directed Prince Nana to bring a brick into the ring. Nana held King’s head against it as Strickland climbed to the top rope — but before he could jump, Omega’s music hit and he ran down to make the save, pulling King out of harm’s way. It is worth noting that Swerve was the one who put Omega on the shelf weeks ago, delivering a vertebreaker through a commentary table on the February 18 Dynamite.
Omega’s return sets the stage for an immediate collision course with Strickland. With King now potentially added to the equation, the fallout from Revolution should shape one of AEW’s most compelling rivalries heading into the spring.
