Jack Perry’s AEW National Championship win at Revolution was a career-defining moment — but it carried a weight that had nothing to do with professional wrestling. Winning the title inside the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, the same building where he once walked the halls as a child alongside his late father Luke Perry, made the victory as bittersweet as it was triumphant.
At the Revolution post-show press conference, Perry opened up about what the night truly meant to him. “Today is kind of bittersweet. My dad died like seven years ago. It’s not something I think about in a big way every single day, but today, coming here and being in this building, the only time I’ve been here is walking around with my dad.”

Perry didn’t shy away from revealing the darker chapters that preceded this moment. “There were times when I wondered, ‘Did I give my life to the wrong thing? Am I not doing well enough? Did I make a mistake?’ You only get one go around. I thought, ‘this is my life — did I make the right choice with it?’ I’ve questioned that at times, which hurts.” He also acknowledged the near-loss of his close friend Luchasaurus, who battled a serious illness over the past year, as another reminder of life’s unpredictability.
In the end, the combination of the setting, his mother and sister in attendance, and the title win around his waist gave Perry the answer he’d been searching for. “To be here now and succeed in such an overwhelming way, with my family and friends, in a company I’ve been part of since day one — that reaffirms to me that I made the right choice. I thought, I hope somewhere he can see this.” Luke Perry passed away in March 2019.
