Janai Kai is under contract with AEW, according to Fightful Select.
The report cited AEW sources and stated that the terms are not known, so it is unclear whether Kai has signed a full-time deal or a per-appearance agreement.
Kai has worked ROH programming regularly since May, facing Athena, Deonna Purrazzo, Mina Shirakawa, Billie Starkz, Maya World and Queen Aminata. She also worked for ROH in 2021 and appeared on AEW television between 2021 and 2022, including matches with Jade Cargill and Athena.
Before returning to ROH, Kai spent more than a year and a half in MLW, where she won the MLW Women’s World Featherweight Championship and holds the longest reign in the title’s history.
