Jeff Jarrett said Kenny Omega worked his AEW All In main event against Will Ospreay like a heel without changing who he is.
Ospreay won the AEW World Championship in the main event at Wembley Stadium. Jarrett said the match is worth a second look for how Omega handled it.
“Yes, Kenny, I’m not going to say he was this big overt heel, but watch his entrance, watch how he paced the match,” Jarrett said on My World with Jeff Jarrett. “To me, Kenny’s pacing, this may ire some people, I think he worked in a lot of ways like a heel, but stayed true to Kenny, and I think that works.”
Jarrett said the wider point is not to blur things past the point of clarity.
“I am a stickler on this, that you don’t overcomplicate it. You said be easy to buy from. I think part and parcel of that is you confuse them, you lose them,” he said. “You don’t have to keep everything black and white, but if you go too long, you’re going to become uneasy to buy from, and you are going to confuse them.”
He said the harder question is how anyone measures whether it is working.
“When we look at revenue generation and fixed revenue that WWE has, what are the real markers? We don’t get a true Netflix number. With the digital media and their presence, there’s so many views on YouTube and Instagram. What are our real barometers of success or failure? That to me is what I always circle back to,” Jarrett said.
