Jeff Jarrett said he is certain WWE agreed a contingency plan for WrestleMania 2027 at the same time it agreed to take the show out of North America.
“I think they had a backup plan. Maybe not dotted the i’s and crossed the t’s, but I think they had it when they agreed to the deal,” Jarrett said on My World with Jeff Jarrett.
He said everything in the company is built around the event.
“WrestleMania is the north star of the organization. Period. And has been since the mid 80s. It is the north star of the product, of the global media empire. Everything funnels that way,” Jarrett said. “When you agree to remove this from North America, you inherently take the risk, so I’m positive they’ve got a backup plan at this point in super granular detail.”
Jarrett said TKO’s business makes a late change manageable.
“WWE runs three or 400 events a year. UFC runs X amount of events a year. TKO is an event driven business. They have relationships in every market. So if it’s not New Orleans, it’s Atlanta. If it’s not Atlanta, hey, let’s go out to LA. If it’s not LA, let’s go to Chicago,” he said. “Would it be as financially successful in rights fees and all that kind of stuff? No, but they’ll pull the event off in a grand way. So I think it’s much ado about nothing.”
