Jeff Jarrett says WWE’s new deal with Bleacher Report is a sign of how healthy the wrestling business is.
WWE and Bleacher Report announced a multi-year global content partnership on September 28. Bleacher Report, which is owned by AEW’s television partner Warner Bros. Discovery, will carry WWE highlights across its platforms, including House of Highlights and BR Wrestling.
On My World with Jeff Jarrett, Jarrett was asked what the deal means for the industry.
“Without a number two, there is no such thing as a number one.”
Jarrett pointed to AEW All Out and WWE Worlds Collide running in the Chicago area on the same night.
“On a Saturday night there is 20,000 plus wrestling fans watching two separate shows. That life is good, business is good.”
He said networks want what wrestling provides.
“Wrestling business has always thrived because we can create content relatively inexpensive, and it rates. And then all of a sudden, not only does it rate, it creates a boatload of shoulder content and a boatload of social media content.”
Jarrett did not want to downplay the deal.
“I hate to cast it as a nothing burger because that downplays it. I think it is another kind of tiny, I call it a smaller chess piece, but man, it shines a light on how healthy the industry is.”
