Jeff Jarrett says wrestling Blue Panther at CMLL’s anniversary show in Arena Mexico was a moment he never expected to have in his career.
On My World with Jeff Jarrett, Jarrett said he had accepted that he would likely never perform in the building.
“I just thought, and I respected it completely, that there will never really be a true opportunity for me to perform in the Cathedral of Professional Wrestling, Arena Mexico,” Jarrett said.
Jarrett compared the anniversary show to the biggest events in the business.
“This is their version of All In, of WrestleMania, of Bound for Glory, of Halloween Havoc, Starcade, Great American Bash.”
He said the crowd turned on him as soon as his music played.
“When My World hit, there was an audible boo, and I went, ‘Here we go!’ Yeah, as a performer, it’s exactly what you want.”
Jarrett said the night ranks among the best moments of his career.
“It’s certainly a top 10, maybe a top five, because A, it wasn’t supposed to happen.”
He also praised his 66-year-old opponent.
“There’s a reason he’s still wrestling at 66 years of age. The people absolutely love him, and I will kick his a– one day.”
“It was a bucket list magical night. I am grateful for the opportunity.”
