WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW star Jeff Jarrett recently confirmed that his real-life frustrations fueled a recent promo on AEW Collision and didn’t hold back in his assessment of former AEW World Champion MJF, labeling him “toxic” and calling their association a “massive mistake.”
Speaking on his “My World” podcast, Jarrett admitted his promo reflected genuine feelings.
“Look, it’s not kind of secret that I’ve had a level of frustration… there was a lot of reality — lots of shreds of reality… I said I wanted AEW gold… I kind of referenced it with a broad stroke that I’ve been listening to the wrong people,” Jarrett explained. “Sonjay is a person, so I’ll go ahead and say it, it’s probably more than a few folks out there…”
Jarrett expressed regret about his current standing and choices. “I’ve got to say that in so many ways I am super disappointed in and I’ll put myself at the very top of that list… I can’t tell you how many times I’ve rethought agreeing on certain levels to certain things.”
His sharpest criticism was reserved for MJF, whom Jarrett believes negatively impacts everyone he works with.
“Another point I’ve got to say is MJF — ever since he got involved in anything that had to do with myself has turned to absolute sh*t,” Jarrett stated bluntly. “…there’s not one talent that has been — I won’t say worked with, because I hadn’t really worked with MJF… He always leaves everyone worse than when he started being associated on any level. I think he’s toxic, I think he’s selfish… I don’t think he was good for my career on any level.”
Jarrett took responsibility but lamented the path taken. “I think he got me off on a wrong track… I also think that I’m the one to blame… listening to the wrong people is kind of the understatement of my 2025 AEW career… I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my career, the MJF situation was a massive massive massive mistake on so many levels… We’ll see.”
