With AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view just weeks away on May 25, the card remains largely unannounced, which may be impacting ticket sales, according to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Currently, only two matches—the finals of the Men’s and Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournaments—are officially confirmed.
Meltzer reported that for the event at the Desert Diamond Arena, “They have 5,786 tickets out and not much secondary market demand with a $22 get in price.” He noted a full setup could hold over 12,000, suggesting, “Some of the lagging sales probably has to do with so little announced, and most of the TV focus has really been on Chicago for Dynamite this coming week.”
The confirmed tournament finals are Will Ospreay vs. “Hangman” Adam Page (winner gets an AEW World Championship match against Jon Moxley at All In Texas) and Mercedes Moné vs. Jamie Hayter (winner faces Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In Texas). Meltzer highlighted the Ospreay vs. Page match, stating, “…unless there is a serious injury in the match, it could be a match of the year contender.”
Beyond the Owen Hart finals, Meltzer noted, “Really nothing else has been strongly hinted past The Young Bucks & The Death Riders will likely team against five babyfaces, with Kenny Omega & Swerve Strickland and probably Samoa Joe being three of them.”
More matches are expected to be announced on the May 14th Dynamite from Hoffman Estates, IL, which is “only 11 days before the card, so one would think a whole lot of new matches will be announced that night.”
