Warner Bros. Discovery has announced an immediate price increase for its HBO Max streaming service, which will affect all new subscribers. The new pricing is effective immediately, while existing subscribers will be notified and see the price change on their next billing date on or after November 20. This is a significant development for professional wrestling fans, as HBO Max is the current streaming home for all of AEW’s weekly television shows, which are simulcast on the platform, and also recently began offering AEW’s pay-per-view events at a discounted price for subscribers.
As of October 21, the new pricing plans for HBO Max are as follows:
- HBO Max Basic with Ads: $10.99 per month or $109.99 per year.
- HBO Max Standard Plan: $18.49 per month or $184.99 per year.
- HBO Max Premium Plan: $22.99 per month or $229.99 per year.
The price hike comes just one month after AEW held its first-ever pay-per-view on the streaming service, All Out in Toronto. That event was offered to HBO Max subscribers for $39.99, which was a $10 discount from the standard $49.99 price on other platforms. This new streaming partnership is a major part of AEW’s current media rights deal with Warner Bros. Discovery. While the increase is a general one for the service and not specific to AEW content, it will directly impact the cost for fans who use HBO Max as their primary platform for watching AEW programming.
