WWE Rolling Out Ad Breaks On International Netflix Broadcasts

A new report from BodySlam+ indicates that international WWE fans who watch weekly programming on Netflix will soon begin seeing ad breaks, a change from the initially ad-free experience. Earlier this year, Netflix became the exclusive international streaming home for all of WWE’s main roster and NXT programming, including weekly live shows like Raw and SmackDown, as well as all Premium Live Events. At the time of the launch, WWE Vice President and Line Producer Brian Fadem stated that international viewers would be able to watch Monday Night Raw without commercial interruptions. However, it appears that plan has now changed as the partnership has evolved.

According to the report, several international markets have already noticed ad breaks being integrated into the live broadcasts of WWE Raw over the past few weeks. The BodySlam+ report notes that WWE is in the process of “slowly rolling out” these ads to all of its international markets. This means that fans in countries who are not yet seeing commercials on their live feeds will likely begin to see them soon. This move aligns the international viewing experience more closely with the domestic one in the United States, where WWE’s programs are broadcast on traditional cable networks with commercial breaks. The change will also provide a significant new revenue stream for both WWE and Netflix as they continue their massive global media rights partnership.
