A massive dream match involving The Elite was derailed by injury, according to The Young Bucks. On Being the Elite, the duo confirmed that AEW had plans for them to face Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi—The Golden Lovers. However, the bout was scrapped after Ibushi suffered a broken femur during a match against Josh Alexander in October.
“The Golden Lovers, Ibushi — it was actually supposed to happen pretty recently,” Nick Jackson revealed. “But he had a really bad leg break. We were supposed to do Kenny (Omega) and Ibushi… We end up doing a six-man tag.” Ibushi is expected to be out of action for up to two years following surgery.
