Alberto El Patron will remain in preventive detention following a ruling by a control judge on Thursday. According to Milenio, the judge determined El Patron should stay behind bars after the San Luis Potosí State General Prosecutor’s Office formally charged him with the crime of family violence.
El Patron was originally arrested on April 6 after his partner called 911 to report a physical and verbal assault. State Civil Guard officers arrived while the alleged assault was still in progress and made the arrest on the scene. The formal charge of family violence now keeps El Patron detained as the legal process moves forward.
Alberto El Patron Has a Prior History of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Allegations
This is not the first time El Patron has faced serious legal allegations. In May 2020 he was arrested on charges of allegedly battering and sexually assaulting his girlfriend, was formally indicted by a grand jury, and charged with aggravated kidnapping and sexual assault — though those charges were ultimately dropped in 2021. El Patron has remained active in the ring in Mexico and was reportedly in the process of launching a new promotion before his April 6 arrest.
