Charlotte Flair has given one of her most candid interviews yet about the evolution of her body image, her approach to training, and how her ring gear has changed alongside her growing confidence over more than a decade in WWE. Speaking with Danny Murphy and Evan Real on SiriusXM’s Page Six Radio, Flair described a journey from pure athletic focus to a fully developed sense of personal presentation and pride in how she looks and feels stepping into the ring.
“Oh, night and day. When I first started, I was just so focused on being the best wrestler — wrestling, wrestling. I was super strong, which was great. I was like 35 pounds heavier. Not saying that was bad, because I definitely feel like my strength and my power and all those years got me to where I am today. But now it’s like, I love showing up to work going, ‘I know I’m going to look like a baddie today.’ The hair, the nails, all those things — I love putting in the effort and the investment,” Flair said.

The training approach that underlies her current physical confidence has also evolved significantly. Her early years involved powerlifting-focused work, but her return last year saw her bring in a new trainer with a bodybuilding and functional training blend. “When I came back to work last year, I was like, you know what? I’m going to get my own trainer that I’m going to train with — not bodybuilding exactly, but mixed in bodybuilding and different functional training. It’s just investing in yourself. I love it.” Her ring gear has evolved alongside her body confidence. “From 2015 to 2019 I don’t think I ever wore a crop top. Now I’m in here in a bikini top. I’m more confident now in my body and the way I look than I was when I started.” Flair competes at WrestleMania 42 Night One on April 18 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
