Becky Lynch has ranked her steel cage match with Trish Stratus at WWE Payback 2023 among the finest of her career — and her description of what made the experience so special centers entirely on her admiration for what Stratus was willing to put her body through at this stage of her life. Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Lynch reflected on the match with genuine warmth while also doubling down on her own self-assessment as the greatest female wrestler of all time.
“That cage match was one of my favorite matches. Trish Stratus — I’m the greatest female wrestler of all time, it’s not just me saying it, other people are saying it. Sports Illustrated says it, Bleacher Report says it. But she is always going to be in that list of the greatest female wrestlers of all time, and she’s out there taking superplexes off the top of a cage. Good on you. I’m like, you got kids, two of them. She’s dedicated, man. She loves this, and she wanted to put her all into it,” Lynch said.

Lynch also revealed she has been using Molly Holly’s signature Molly Go Round senton in her matches and has received direct feedback from the original. “Can still bust out that Molly Go Round. I’ve hit it a couple of times. She’s let me know it needs improvement. I don’t do it like she does. I’m not really a high flyer. As Mick Foley said, can’t jump high, but I can jump off of high things.” Lynch is now the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion after defeating AJ Lee at WrestleMania 42 Night One in Las Vegas.
