For the first time in five years, the Memorial Day tradition of AEW Double or Nothing will be paired with a Stadium Stampede match. Confirmed on Wednesday’s Dynamite, the match will feature Chris Jericho and four partners against Ricochet, Bishop Kaun, Toa Liona, and two yet-to-be-named men.
The match was set up after a verbal confrontation between Jericho and Ricochet, with Jericho seeking another shot at Ricochet over his recent attacks. Ricochet eventually accepted, but only on the condition the bout be a Stadium Stampede, openly questioning whether Jericho could even find partners to fill out a team.
A brawl then broke out between Jericho, Ricochet, and the Gates of Agony before all three Hurt Syndicate members — Bobby Lashley, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin — ran out for the save, hinting that three of Jericho’s four partners may already be in place.
Jericho was part of the inaugural Stadium Stampede match in 2020, when his Inner Circle lost to The Elite. The Inner Circle picked up the win at Double or Nothing 2021 against The Pinnacle, and the most recent Stampede took place at All In 2023 from Wembley Stadium.
The current Double or Nothing card on May 24 in Queens, New York features the Stadium Stampede, Kazuchika Okada defending the AEW International Championship against Konosuke Takeshita, FTR defending the AEW World Tag Team Titles against Adam Copeland and Christian Cage in an I Quit street fight, Darby Allin defending the AEW World Championship against MJF in a title vs. hair match, and Swerve Strickland vs. Bandido.
