Big E is sticking with WWE despite the recent departures of his New Day stablemates. Days after WrestleMania 42, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods reached a mutual agreement with WWE to leave the company following the promotion’s attempt to restructure their contracts. The exits sparked questions about Big E’s future, but a new report has shut that down.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, Big E will continue working with WWE as part of its PLE Kickoff shows. He is internally viewed as a valuable presence and a key reason behind the success of those broadcasts over the years.
Big E has not wrestled since suffering a serious neck injury after taking a suplex at ringside several years ago. He has shifted to broadcast work since then, and there is no confirmed update on a possible in-ring return. Speaking previously about his retirement decision, he detailed how seriously his medical team had warned him.
“So after talking to [Dr. Juan Uribe] and a few other doctors, the doctor almost damn near begged me like, ‘Hey, please, even if you get your all go, you’re clear, you’re allowed to get back in the ring, please really reconsider it.’ And when I told him, ‘I think I’m definitely leaning towards being done,’ he almost quite literally breathed a sigh of relief. So for someone who’s been doing this for so long, who knows a lot more about spines and necks than I do, I definitely took heed.”
