Tensions between Don Callis Family stablemates Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita are about to escalate even further. The two have never quite seen eye-to-eye despite belonging to the same group, and a sudden change to AEW’s upcoming Dynamite has dropped Takeshita into the spotlight at Okada’s expense.
Originally, Okada was scheduled to challenge Darby Allin for the AEW World Championship on the May 13 episode of Dynamite. However, Okada had to travel to Japan for personal reasons, and AEW announced on Fairway to Hell that Takeshita will instead represent the Don Callis Family in the title match. Bryan Alvarez also reported that Okada going to Japan on family business is legitimate, confirming the reason behind the booking change.
The two are still set to face each other at Double or Nothing, where Okada defends his AEW International Championship against Takeshita.
In the main event of Fairway to Hell, Allin survived a brutal night against PAC to retain the AEW World Championship. Allin endured a 25-foot drop through four tables and other punishing spots before scoring the win with a Coffin Drop, ending the show standing tall heading into next week’s defense against Takeshita.
