A significant internal push is reportedly underway in AEW to bring in Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. According to Fightful Select, nearly a dozen sources within AEW are on board with the idea of the former New Day duo signing with the company, with the report adding that the response has been unusually unanimous.
Sean Ross Sapp wrote that he typically expects at least one source to push back on a topic like this, but nobody he spoke to dissented. Fightful Select also noted that a number of major names within AEW have been making an internal push for Kingston and Woods to land there. Both wrestlers were described as universally respected and are highly expected to join AEW once their 90-day non-compete clauses end.
The interest comes after Kingston and Woods mutually parted ways with WWE following WrestleMania 42, with the move reportedly tied to TKO and WWE wanting to restructure their contracts.
Bobby Lashley has already addressed the prospect publicly, with the Hurt Syndicate leader making clear he wants Kingston and Woods in AEW.
“Man, I tell you what, I think the problem that we have right now is that the Hurt Syndicate is too strong. If we bring those guys on there, we’d be just unstoppable. I don’t think there’s any guess game in what’s going to happen next. I think Kofi and Woods, I think they’re just amazing talent, and I think that anybody and everybody is going to throw in their money to try to pick those guys up. Hopefully they come to AEW, and if they do, we’ll try to get them if we can because I would love to be able to work with those guys. I like those guys. I’ve worked with those guys for years over at the other organization, and if they came over here and wanted to be a part of The Hurt Syndicate, it’s game on.”
